This album is ideally
suited for meditation, or for any spiritual activity, this
CD is not exactly "music". This is a unique digital
recording of monks actually practicing a traditional
"gong" or "bell" meditation which
involves "playing" a well-tuned set of 8 quartz bowls
(in shapes similar to the classic metal Tibetan gongs/bells). The
gongs are not actually struck, but instead rung by way of resonant
vibration (much like how you would rub a finger on the top edge of
a crystal drinking glass to attempt to make it "ring
out" or resonate). As we mentioned, this CD is perfect to
meditate with or just to create a spiritual ambiance or tranquil
atmosphere in a room.
Since this was recorded in
3-D, when wearing headphones you can actually hear the gongs all
around you, and even detect how far away they are!
